On Thursday, February 23, 2017, the Pacific Science Center (PSC) and the University of Washington (UW) were able to visit Port Townsend High School through science teacher Brandi Hageman's participation in the Northwest Earth and Space Science Pipeline (NESSP) Grant. The PSC brought a planetarium in which students learned about various constellations in the sky. Students also were able to plan expeditions to "Mars". The students remotely operated the Mars rovers using iPads and students as satellites. The UW team helped students build and launch bottle and Estes rockets. Some students also simulated the rocket trajectory by shooting at targets with bows and arrows. Students from Ms. Hageman's Science I classes, Mr. Behrenfeld's Physics and Marine Biology classes, Ms. Marmol's Special Education classes, and Mr. Freeman's Calculus class were able to participate.
