Join school health consultants Jennie Watkins RN and Lois Sherwood for a presentation on the topics of Human Growth and Development and HIV/AIDS instruction. Review the curriculum and sample lessons from the district approved FLASH curriculum for grades five, eight and nine as well as topics to be covered in state mandated HIV/AIDS instruction for grades 5 - 12.

A sampling of topics include: HIV/AIDS Prevention, Healthy Relationships, Sexual Identity, Gender Identity, Sex and Sexuality, Pregnancy and Parenting, Puberty, and Anatomy This is an opportunity for parents to preview materials that will be used in the classroom in the spring. Come find out what your child is learning –and be able to continue the discussion at home.

NOTE: Per parent request, a student may be removed from Human Growth & Development and HIV/AIDS education if the student’s parent or guardian, having attended this meeting then completes the opt-out form. If you are unable to attend the meeting, contact the school and arrange a meeting with Special Services Director or the school principal to preview the materials prior to making the decision to opt out.
