This page will provide updated information on the Port Townsend School Districts COVID-19 response protocols, as well as COVID-19 resources.

What if someone has symptoms or is exposed?
Students and staff with COVID-19 symptoms, or known exposure to COVID-19, should not come to school. Students and staff will follow the Return to School Flow Chart to determine when they can return to school.

If a student or staff member exhibits any COVID-19 like symptoms at school they will be removed from the classroom and sent home, and areas that the student or staff used during the time they were at school will be cleaned. Each school has a quarantine area for students to wait until they can be picked up.

What if there is a positive case?
In the event of a confirmed COVID-19 case in a staff or student of Port Townsend Public Schools, we will notify all staff and families as soon as possible. Due to confidentiality we will only share the school that the case was associated with. Jefferson County Public Health will directly contact anyone who is a close contact of the confirmed case, and provide follow up instructions for testing and quarantine.

Depending on the circumstances and levels of exposure, the schools will do one or more of the following: deep cleaning of all impacted spaces, move learning spaces to non-impacted areas, move one or more cohorts to distance learning for a period of time, move a whole school to distance learning for a period of time, or move the whole district to distance learning for a period of time. All decisions will be made based on the health and safety of staff and students, and after working closely with Jefferson County Public Health.

More Information
One of the most important things we can all do to prevent the spread of COVID-19 is to stay home if we are not feeling well. The Department of Health Fact Sheets below provide more detailed information. The Jefferson Healthcare COVID-19/Respiratory Illness Nurse consult line is 360-344-3094.
