Superintendent to be Announced February 24
The school board has selected a finalist candidate and will complete additional reference and background checks. The new superintendent will be announced on February 24 at 5pm. See the main district page for the Zoom link to the Special Board meeting.

Announcing Finalist Candidates
The following finalist candidates were interviewed by the school board and a community stakeholder group.

Interviewing Monday, February 1, 2021: Dr. Scott Mauk
Dr. Scott Mauk is the principal at Edmonds Heights K-12, Alternative Learning Experience in the Edmonds School District. Prior to working in Edmonds School District Dr. Mauk worked in the South Whidbey School District for 17 years as a teacher, program director, athletic director, and assistant principal.

Interviewing Tuesday, February 2, 2021: Ms. Kristie Lindholm.
Kristie Lindholm is an Area Senior Director in the Office of School Performance in Portland Public Schools where she supervisors principals and oversees professional learning. Ms. Lindholm has been an educator for over 30 years, also working as a teacher, assistant principal, and principal.

Interviewing Wednesday, February 3, 2021: Ms. Linda Rosenbury
Linda Rosenbury is a Doctoral Resident in Highline Public Schools where she works closely with the superintendent and district leaders. Ms. Rosenbury has 19 years of experience in education and has also worked as a teacher, and a principal.

Interviewing Thursday, February 4, 2021: Dr. Diana Roybal
Dr. Diana Roybal is the Executive Director of Elementary Education in Cherry Creek School District in Colorado where she supervises elementary school principals. Dr. Roybal has over 25 years of experience as an educator and has also worked as a paraeducator, teacher, assistant principal, and principal.


Semi-finalist interviews took place Saturday, January 23rd and the Port Townsend School Board has narrowed down the candidate pool to four finalists for interviews the week of February 1.


Superintendent Search Process
Port Townsend School District is searching for a new superintendent. The first step was to select a search consultant. This consultant will help with the process and will conduct a nationwide search for candidates.

The next step was to determine the qualities we want in our next superintendent. This information was used to build a profile of the ideal candidate. The profile will be used in the screening and interview process, so engaging our community and staff iwas vital.  An online survey and focus groups of staff, community, parents and students happened as a part of the process of gathering information and forming the profile to begin the search process. Thank you to everyone who participated.

The Executive Summary Leadership Profile and Ideal Candidate profile was presented at a November 12 board meeting.

The search consultant conducted a nationwide search for candidates. Semifinalists were interviewed on January 23, and four finalists selected.

Stakeholders were invited to apply to join an interview team. Thank you to everyone who applied to be on the Stakeholder interview team. Members have been selected by lottery and notified of their participation.
